WHO IS
The Rockabilly Bookkeeper?
Hi there, my name is Ann Jordan and owner of The Rockabilly Bookkeeper.
Many people ask me about the name of my business. Let me explain, my husband loves hotrods and rock ‘n’ roll, we would visit car shows where I would see all these beautifully dressed ladies and I thought I might change my style. He also encouraged me to start my own business but I was always reluctant, how do you sell bookkeeping? Then one day the name “The Rockabilly Bookkeeper” came into my head and I thought “I can run with that”. I felt so strongly about the name that I set up my business the very next day.
#Bookkeeping with Banter is something else I am extremely proud of. I love engaging with clients through humour and as much I tried to be “professional” my true nature always came through and I now celebrate it.
My background is office management and business development and it was a deliberate choice that I became a bookkeeper. I love what I do, I enjoy taking away the stress from business owners and giving them back free time for them to enjoy their lives too.
So, what do I do when I am not working? I have a lot of hobbies - golf, fly fishing, camping, off road driving and relaxing.
The Oxford English Dictionary says that banter means "to make fun of (a person); to hold up to ridicule, 'roast'; to jest at, rally, 'chaff'. Now usually of good-humoured raillery".
Banter to a Scottish person is like pineapple chunks to a Kiwi - it goes hand in hand. If a Scottish person doesn’t like you then you are safe, we will not engage in any banter with you. If we like you then be warned, it can get brutal.
I love relationship building with my clients which usually means cracking a joke or too along the way.
